Mathis Texas - Coastal Bend SchH Club
(11-19/20-05)
Every year since the club started we have gone to Mathis.
We stay at the "Ranch" along with everyone else. For the past few years,
we have had a little "cook out" in the parking lot with the Chief Chef
Buddy. There is always lots of good food and lots of fun - and we don't
have to go very far to get to our rooms. This year was no different.
We held a spontaneous "judges dinner" in the parking lot of the motel. We
got a little bit of rain, so we had to pull out the umbrellas but a little rain
didn't stop us. We cooked and visited and enjoyed each others company.
Below is the story of Danny and Celine, while there were lots of other good
stories over the weekend I thought I'd share this one with everyone. The
pictures are not too good since I didn't think I was going to need one, so I
left my new one (that I don't know how to work) at home, but at least I had my
little one. If anyone wants to add a story or add to the story just send
it to me. ENJOY!!
Danny Grayson and Celine in Mathis!!
It started as good clean fun at Breakfast after an very fun night of
visiting with people we haven't seen in a long time. The club was short a
dog, so Rob and Jessy say "We have Celine" and then it started. When we
asked, who is going to trial her, up went Danny and Lynn's hands. I'm not
sure yet how Danny got to do it, but it was tooooo fun. Rob and
Jessy brought her out and gave as much instruction as possible in 10 minutes.
But as you read this story, you have to realize what an awesome bitch Celine is
to just come out after a number of years not tracking (3), doing obedience (1 or
2) and then I don't even know in protection. I just know the first time I
laid eyes on her, I knew she was very very special. So while I am writing
a short story about this, it is a story to be told and Danny gets to be part of
it and had way too much fun.
Off to the track they go
.Nikki
meets them with a smile (unknowing that he just got the dog a short while ago)
and we are off
.
If he had paid attention to Celine she was saying "walk faster, you are messing
up my timing"
but over all they get a 94 (guess who took the points :)).
Next we go to Obedience:
It was very very cool to see such a nice bitch pushing the handler. Danny
came off the field in obedience saying "wow, that type of dog really makes my
heart pump, what a dog!" So off we go in obedience.
Again, if Danny would have listened to the "girl" maybe the score would have
been higher, but how can you not just absolutely enjoy trailing a dog like
Celine. Most of the time, she was pushing him for more and he was just
smiling from ear to ear at how awesome she was. The dumbbell was cute, he
throws, she looks, he waits
(a little toooo long) and she looks up at him, waits and then says "Hey - you
should have sent me by now" and off she goes: But overall an
80
is pretty good considering how long it has been since she worked. Not to
mention how she did all the exercises and tried to show him the routine but he
was having too much fun to pay attention to a Bitch! :))
Ok - on to Protection..... :))))
At breakfast, I believe the comment was "Danny, if you can get her out of the blind, everything else will be super." So Danny and Celine report in and head downfield. (As a side note, our friend Vicki shows up about now! WE tell her Danny is trialing and she is mad because she missed the other two phases. Of course we didn't tell her he wasn't showing Bugsy aka Barker and we wondered how long it would take her to notice. Vickie made the comment as Danny was healing to the other end of the field "He is way to happy to run those blinds, I thought he was a sable?" (still thinking it was Danny's male who just has a BH - it struck Jessy and me as funny, so we wondered, hmmm doesn't she question why Danny went from a BH to running 6 blinds :) and we were all just laughing. Then Celine got to the sixth blind and Vickie says "HEY, that isn't a Boy dog - who is that?" Well at least she finally figured out it wasn't Dannys dog - but if a friend of 20 plus years can't tell it wasn't Danny's dog - who could!)
Ok, back to the trial - The blind search was perfect she got all six, then
comes the blind
and there was a nibble here and there and after a strong command - she came out!
The escape was full and hard, a little slow to out, the back transport was
excellent, again a little slow to out, the side transport to the judge was good.
The courage test was very nice, she came down the field with commitment and
speed. Charles made a perfect catch
the re-attack was also excellent, but she was a bit slow to out :)
but overall it was very very nice and can you say "WHAT A NICE BITCH!!"
NIkki also thought so and made the comment to the crowd what a GREAT Bitch and
how it is nice to see such strong working Bitch with such heart and a good bond
with the handler! :)) Of course we were all just cracking up knowing that
Celine and Danny just met - but it you wouldn't know it, and you never would
have if we didn't tell ya, just ask Vickie!
The final score was an 80P
So with his 94-80-80 = 254, Mr Grayson finally put a SchH3 on a dog and
guess what else topped it off!!
First Place SchH3 and HIGH in Trial!!
It was way to much fun and everyone really enjoyed watching Celine and Danny!
Danny and I want to say a big heartfelt "THANK YOU" to Rob and Jessy and Nikki for such a fun weekend with Celine.
Charles and Kimon with a 284 :)
